FHS-Only Scholarships for Seniors
Due to the generosity of the City of Fairfax School Board, the Fairfax Rotary Club, M2 Solutions Inc, and the Pitches family, the following scholarships are offered EXCLUSIVELY TO FAIRFAX HS seniors:
FHS City of Fairfax School Board Janice Miller Scholarship - $2,000
Open to Fairfax High School graduating seniors with a GPA of 3.0 or better, attending a 2- or 4-year college or university in the fall.
Criteria: Community service and leadership as demonstrated by curricular or extracurricular activities, and community-based service; completion of the scholarship application, including a short essay of 500 words or less describing your personal goals and reasons for pursuing your chosen field of study and/or career; statement of financial need; and Optional Letter of recommendation from a Fairfax High School Teacher, Administrator, Counselor, or Coach.
Requirements: Application with short statement of financial need, copy of unofficial transcript (Ms. Kim will provide); list of extracurricular activities; essay and optional one letter of recommendation.
Deadline: Completed applications should be submitted to Ms. Kim in the Career Center, Room L106, or via email: @email, no later than Wednesday, April 19.
FHS Fairfax Rotary Club Pat Laing Memorial Scholarship - $8,000
Open to FHS seniors planning to attend a Virginia in-state, public, 4-year university in the fall. Must be US Citizen or legal permanent resident to apply.
Criteria: Financial need, character, scholastic performance and an essay of 2-3 pages on "How I see myself five to ten years from the present."
Requirements: Application, essay, memo explaining financial need, unofficial transcript (Ms. Kim will provide) and one letter of recommendation.
Deadline: Completed applications should be submitted to Ms. Kim in the Career Center, L106, or via email: @email, no later than Thursday, April 20.
FHS Fairfax Rotary Memorial Scholarship - $5,000
Open to FHS seniors planning to attend a Virginia in-state, public, 4-year university in the fall. Must be US Citizen or legal permanent resident to apply.
Criteria: Financial need, character, scholastic performance and an essay of 1-2 pages on "Why I am proud to be an American."
Requirements: Application, essay, memo explaining financial need, unofficial transcript (Ms. Kim will provide) and one letter of recommendation.
Deadline: Completed applications should be submitted to Ms. Kim in the Career Center, L106, or via email: @email, no later than Thursday, April 20.
FHS Fairfax Rotary Club's Setty Family Scholarship - $5,000
Open to FHS seniors planning to attend a Virginia in-state, public 4-year university in the fall. Must be US Citizen or legal permanent resident to apply.
Criteria: Financial need, character, scholastic performance, and an essay of 1-2 pages on the following: "The Rotary Club's Motto is: Service Above Self. Describe a group, organization or community that you are involved in and how you have served this group."
Requirements: Application, essay, memo explaining financial need, unofficial transcript (Ms. Kim will provide) and one letter of recommendation.

FHS Fairfax Rotary Paul J. Brown Community Service Award - $500
Open to FHS senior with at least a 3.0 GPA and a US Citizen or legal permanent resident.
Criteria: Strong moral character and participation in community service projects/hours.

FHS M2 Solutions - $1,500
M2 Solutions, Inc., a technology company located in Northern Virginia, will offer a $1,500 scholarship to support a disadvantaged high school senior who is pursuing community college, technical school, or four-year university, and plans to pursue a career in the STEM field. There may also be opportunities for mentorship and/or an internship for the student who is awarded this scholarship.
To be eligible for this scholarship, you must:
- Be a graduating senior of Fairfax High School in Fairfax, VA
- Have a minimum GPA of 3.0 or higher.
To apply:
- You MUST include your full name, home address, email address, and phone number in your submission.
- Write a short autobiography including information about your family, work experience, community involvement, hobbies, spare time activities, and what you hope to do in the future.
- Include a short summary or personal statement describing your accomplishments and goals.
- List any honors and awards you’ve received.
- List any extra-curricular activities.
Applications are due by Friday, April 21st and should be submitted to @email. “2023 Fairfax High School Scholarship” should be in the subject line.
Latina students are strongly encouraged to apply.
FHS Justen and Carolyn Pitches Scholarship - $2,000
Open to FAIRFAX CITY RESIDENTS graduating from Fairfax High School and planning to attend NOVA in the fall.
Criteria: Financial need, academic achievement, community service and/or extracurricular activities, and an essay, “Describe a person or event that impacted your life. How has this person or experience inspired you to strive to succeed?”
Requirements: Application, essay, memo explaining financial need, and copy of transcript (Ms. Kim will provide).
