Restorative Practice School

Fairfax High School is a Restorative Practice School with over 50 trained teachers and staff offering restorative justice education and opportunities.

Access and Opportunity

Fairfax High School is focused on access and opportunity for all learners. FHS has increased AP, DE, and Honors enrollment by 2,000 course enrollees.

Specialized Academic Programming

• Geospatial Analysis is a dual-enrollment class with James Madison University that teaches Geographic Information Systems (GIS) and spatial thinking. Students use industry-standard software for data analysis and map creation, often leading students to pursue GIS in college and future careers.
• The AVID PAWSome College Readiness Program provides support for college entry and success through executive functioning help, tutorials, and college experiences.
• Career and Technical Education (CTE) offers programs in Marketing, Business, and Information Technology. Student organizations, like DECA and FCCLA, enhance learning through competitions and hands-on experiences, emphasizing quality work-based learning.

Fairfax Academy for Arts and Communication

The program provides artistic and industry coursework, partnerships, and certification options for career and college opportunities. They gain skills for event management through cross-disciplinary teamwork and leadership sessions with over 100 Academy Ambassadors. The programs emphasize three pathways: Arts, World Languages, and Career and Technical Education (CTE).

Positive Behavior Incentive System

Fairfax High School has been nominated for National Recognition in their efforts to build strong culture, behavioral expectations, and community.

Fairfax High School proudly represents students from over 62 countries. We host a Student Equity Stakeholder Group, Student Equity Ambassador Program, and active site-based equity team.
