Information about Prom, Graduation, and All Night Grad Party for the class of 2018
We are so excited to honor your student at our graduation on Thursday, June 7, 2018. Please review the following information regarding your senior over the next week:
Monday June 4 and Tuesday June 5: Seniors do not have school on these days. Seniors should not come to school on either of these days during school hours.
Wednesday June 6: Graduation Rehearsal and Senior Picnic. Attendance at the graduation rehearsal is mandatory. Seniors are to report to the cafeteria at 10:00 am. No caps or gowns needed. Students will practice their procession and rehearse parts of the graduation ceremony. There will be a senior class picnic on our turf field immediately following the graduation rehearsal.
Thursday June 7: Graduation is in our Field House at 12:00 pm. seniors should report in caps and gowns to the cafeteria by 10:15 am. Seniors have been encouraged to only bring their car keys with them to graduation.
GENERAL SEATING: All seniors will automatically receive six tickets and can request extra tickets starting May 1 at 8am by visiting the following website:https://goo.gl/forms/swKLOGUdGNdBwwEx1
If you wish to be able to sit in a location in the Field House where you can face your senior as s/he crosses the stage, we recommend that you ask your senior where they sat during the graduation rehearsal on June 6. If your student is on the left side facing the stage (likely to be students with last names beginning with A-L), we recommend you enter the Field House through Door 15 or 16. If your student is on the right side facing the stage (likely to be students with last names beginning with M-Z), we recommend you enter the Field House through Door 19 or 20.
Everyone attending the Graduation ceremony in the Field House must have a ticket. If you have extra people who want to attend the ceremony, they can sit in our Auditorium and watch a live feed. No ticket is required to watch the graduation from the auditorium.
HANDICAPPED SEATING: We designate two rows of seating on the Field House floor for elderly and handicap seating. We also reserve the first row of the bleachers as well for this purpose. We will open doors #21 and #14 for the elderly and handicapped at approximately 10:45 am (15 minutes before the rest of the doors to allow these people to get to their seats more comfortably). We ask that only people that need these seats use them along with one caregiver. Anyone seeking handicapped seating is encouraged to email ADSA Mike Brown at MTBrown2@fcps.edu. We encourage all people who will be using handicapped seating to enter through Door 21.
PARKING ON GRADUATION DAY: We expect thousands of people to attend our ceremony, and so parking will be limited at the high school. To make more parking spaces available at our school, we encourage seniors to be dropped off or to carpool with friends. Once our lot is full, we cannot permit any more vehicles to park on school grounds.
To accommodate as many people as possible, Metro Church has been kind enough to allow us to use their lots for Graduation. They are located at 3500 Pickett Road, Fairfax, VA 22031. 2 CUE buses will run a continuous route between Fairfax High School and Metro Church between 11:00 am and 3:00 pm.
HANDICAPPED PARKING: We reserve the entire Field House parking lot for handicapped parking. Anyone who needs to park in this lot must have handicap license plates or a handicap placard hanging from the rear view mirror.
