Senior Section

Families of Seniors,

We are so excited to honor your student at our graduation on Tuesday, May 31st.

Please review the following information regarding your senior over the next week:

Friday May 27:

Graduation Rehearsal. Attendance at the graduation rehearsal is mandatory. Seniors are to report to the Field House by 10:00 am.  There will be a senior class picnic immediately following the graduation rehearsal.

Tuesday, May 31

Graduation is in our Stadium at 10:00am. Seniors should report in caps and gowns to the FIELD HOUSE by 8:00 am. Seniors have been encouraged to only bring their car keys with them to graduation. We cannot provide a secure location for backpacks/bags and students will not re-enter the building following the ceremony.

Gates will open for the general public at 9:15 am. All guests MUST remain in the bleachers during the entire ceremony. Pictures will be taken from the bleachers and not from the fence lining the track.

Graduation tickets are not required for the outdoor ceremony.

If you wish to be able to sit in a location in the stadium where you can face your senior as s/he crosses the stage, we recommend that you ask your senior where they sat during the graduation rehearsal on May 27. If your student is on the right side facing the stage (likely to be students with last names beginning with A-K), we recommend you sit on the VISITOR side of the stadium. If your student is on the left side facing the stage (likely to be students with last names beginning with L-Z), we recommend you sit on the HOME side of the stadium. Most parking/shortest walk will be on the Home side and certainly you will have a great view of the ceremony no matter where you sit! .

Handicapped Seating

We designate the concrete pad and the upper row of the “Home” side bleachers for elderly and handicap seating, and those accompanying guests who have special seating needs.  We also reserve a row on the track, on the “visitor” side for the same purpose (guests needing ground level access and one guest accompanying them). Anyone seeking handicapped seating is encouraged to complete this Google Form

Handicapped Parking

  • We reserve the entire Field House parking lot for handicapped parking. Anyone who needs to park in this lot must have handicap license plates or a handicap placard hanging from the rear view mirror. VERY limited handicap parking may be available on Lion Run. We will have a drop-off location (no parking, but drop-off only) on Lion Run if you enter from Rt 50. Guests requesting special seating and preferring to sit on the “Visitor” side of the stadium are invited to use this drop off (please enter from Rt. 50 - drop off is not accessible if you enter from Old Lee Highway). There are limited, first-come, first-served handicap-reserved parking spaces on Lion Run with direct access to the visitor-side track/bleachers.

We expect thousands of people to attend our ceremony, and so parking will be limited at the high school. To make more parking spaces available at our school, we encourage seniors to be dropped off or to carpool with friends. Once our lot is full, we cannot permit any more vehicles to park on school grounds.

Inclement Weather Plan:

If weather forces us to postpone the event from May 31st at 10am, we will communicate by 7:00 am via all traditional school communication  channels. We will move to Wednesday, June 1st, 10am, outdoors. If weather is still a concern on June 1st  we will move the ceremony indoors on June 1st at 10am. If the ceremony is moved indoors all guests will require a ticket. Tickets are distributed to seniors at the rehearsal on Friday, May 27.

LIVESTREAM can be viewed here.

The All Night Grad Party will be at the St. James in Springfield, Va. on May 31st from 11:00 pm until 5:00 am.  Tickets are $65 and can be purchased through the ANG website.  This is the best way to celebrate graduation with your friends!
